Welcome to Year 4 where you will find Mr Musker (class teacher) and Miss Bewley (teaching assistant).
Happy New Year and welcome back! I hope you all enjoyed the Christmas holidays. Our first topic of the year is called Working Children. During this topic, we will be studying children of the Victorian period. We will be finding out about what work they did, what schooling they received and what games they played. As part of our study, we will also be visiting a mill (Quarry Bank Mill) where children once lived and worked. In English lessons, we will be studying books with a Victorian theme (Climbing In The Dark and Street Child). In Mathematics, our main topics this half-term include: division, fractions and decimals. Our Science topic this half-term is Humans, Teeth and Digestion. PE will take place on Tuesday and Friday.
Year 4 children will be given homework each Friday and it should be returned on a Monday. Children will also be given spellings to learn each Tuesday and they will be tested on a Friday.
Please encourage your child to read each day at home as this will greatly help their development across the curriculum. Thank you.
