We are ready to welcome the children back to school after our Christmas break and get back to work and some exciting learning opportunities! Our topic for this term is ‘Superheroes,’ during this topic we will be learning about characteristics of a superhero and how we are all superheroes in the things that we do and achieve.
-On Monday’s spellings will be sent out for the children to practice for their spelling test on a Friday.
-On Wednesday’s the children are to come to school wearing their PE kit, preferably with Velcro fastening shoes as staff are unable to tie shoe laces with the current restrictions.
-On a Friday children will be set homework to complete for Monday, this will be set on class dojo. No homework should be brought into school, a photo of the completed homework sent via Class Dojo is sufficient.
- Children now finish at 3:10 instead of 2:55.
-Children need to bring a clearly labelled water bottle that can either be disposed of or washed at home daily.
-Book bags do not need to be brought into school.
-If your child is bringing a packed lunch this needs to be in a disposable bag that will be disposed of in school.
-Children currently cannot bring home any pieces of art or other creations that they might make within the day.
This is to minimise items travelling between home and school.
Our topic this term is Space and Superheroes.
In English we are reading Send for a Superhero by Michael Rosen where the children will think about what characteristics you need to be a superhero and will make their own comic book with their own superhero and villain. Later in the term we will read I Want My Hat Back by Jon Klassen where we will take on the role of one of the main characters and perform ‘hot seating’ questions.
In Mathematics we are focusing on addition and subtraction to 20, place value to 50 and length, height, weight and volume.
