Welcome to Year 4

Teacher: Mrs H. Williams & Miss K. Clarke

Support Staff: Miss D. Bewley & Mr A. Hodgson

This year Mrs Williams, Miss Clarke, Miss Bewley and Mr Hodgson will be leading Year 4 on a fantastic and exciting learning journey. Below is some key information for parents and children regarding the Year 4 curriculum and our routines.

For more in-depth information about the curriculum each half term please refer to the Half Termly Topic Overviews on this page.

Reading: Each day, your child will bring a reading book home to practise with you to support the reading work that they are doing in school. Children need to bring their reading book to school each day as there will be opportunities to continue reading during the day, as well as opportunities to read to an adult in class across the week.

Spellings: Each Monday your child will bring home their spelling practise sheet, these will be linked to spelling lessons in class. Spelling practise sheets should be kept at home and practised regularly. Children will have a spelling test each Friday.

PE: Year 4 will have PE lessons on Tuesdays and Fridays. We would like your child to attend school, on these days, in their school PE kit.

Homework

Spellings – These will be sent home each Monday and the children will be tested on a Friday. Please return completed sheet on a Friday.

Maths and English - Each Friday, your child will be set a piece of homework (Maths or English). This homework should be completed and returned to school by Wednesday.
